Anyway, we got Thursday and Friday off work due to our public holidays in Singapore - Hari Raya Puasa and National Day (we turn 48 as a nation!). This weekend we also officially rented out the 2nd house (from which view you can enjoy above) to an Irish dude, hopefully he doesn't trash it, seems decent enough. And we had a small BBQ gathering at our place with some close friends/colleagues. There's something I wanna rant about, but let's enjoy the pictures first!
Prep work started on Friday evening. We lugged our trolley to the supermarket to buy some food/necessities and made guacamole at home while the fireworks sparked outside our window :D Weirdly fun. We had ordered most of the food online, so minimal prep work was required. The guacamole was yums by the way, although a slight panic when we realized it would potentially oxidize and turn brown the next morning.
Thankfully Google saved the day by teaching us some tips and tricks on how to avoid that! You can either put the pit of the avocado into your guacamole (but we had threw the pit away!! -_-); OR scoop the guacamole into an air-tight container, smooth the surface flat and squeeze lime juice over it, following which place a plastic cling wrap on top of the guacamole itself, making sure there are minimal air bubbles beneath the surface. That's what we did, and tadah, was still green on Saturday morning :)
We had a Nautical or Naughty Girl theme, just for the fun of it!
Overall it was a very nice gathering with good food and drinks, and very meaningful chats with the girls all the way till midnight.
HOWEVER....
It was slightly ruined because of our fellow residents from a far-away village in India, who were also having a barbecue gathering on the same evening. There were like maybe 30 of them and 7 of us, and they totally overstepped their boundaries by using our space, making tons of noise on purpose to piss us off. I know it was intentional because everytime this monkey of a guy made some screaming noises he would turn around and glance at us. And they started singing louder and louder, and this guy even jumped on the table (while people were eating) and started dancing like a baboon. Like seriously....
No consideration for your neighbours. No respect for space. And we were so pissed we packed off and I went to complain to the security guards. Like wtf. I shouldn't even have to move, I bloody booked my pit till 10pm. You wanna move to the city, then quit behaving like a village bumpkin. I only have one word for you: UNCIVILISED. So what if you stay in a condo, you are just a public nuisance and should balek kampong!! *STEAMS* This is the reason why Singaporeans are leaving Singapore, it does not feel like home anymore and we are outnumbered by inconsiderate people like these. And as we left, THEY STARTED SINGING EVEN LOUDER, macam showing off their victory.
OK rant over. Breathe! I'm glad overall the gathering still turned out fine, became some interesting points of conversation for us.
